We have had some exciting developments at GEK as we continue to experience the benevolent energy of Spirit moving from season to season.
Konscious Fridays are a new development at GEK emerging from the realization that artists who express the plight of bakwaNtu in song are marginalized from getting airplay in mainstream media. The response has been really positive with talented artists attending and showcasing their gifts in song and spoken word poetry. Look So far we have had two consecutive Friday showcases where food, and GEK market were there to enrich the occasion. Spiritual people are often lonely due to the fact that they are no longer able to frequent normal spaces for leisure and entertainment. Konscious Fridays will provide such a space where like- minded people can come together to socialize in a safe and comfortable space.
The Event on Fridays are also to fundraise for the movement through a 100R entry fee and to support the market through sales. A raffle will be run at these events and the winners get a hamper of items from the GEK market.

The three Conscious Friday events have been a huge success and below are some highlights.

Great News: Many may remember the drama that took place on the 22nd of September when GEK was prohibited by the Department of Forestry from entering eNzaloyelanga for our annual pilgrimage to perform sacred rituals at an all- night vigil to celebrate the Afrikan New Year on September 23. The reason given was that GEK had not applied for a permit to ascend to the stone calendar and therefore what we were doing was deemed illegal. The issue was that our cultural practice did not fit the criteria that were required by the Ministry of Forestry application. Moreover, we protested the insane idea that as bakwaNtu we had to ask for permission to practice our culture in our own land, based on the laws that protected the interests of the White minority.

There was a peaceful confrontation with the police who had been sent to prevent us from going in through the gates which were locked. We were unarmed but they deployed police vehicles as though they were going to arrest criminals. After hours of tense negotiations the police and the Department of Forestry members present realized that we were not leaving. The ministry was called and eventually the gate was opened and we were able to have our pilgrimage in peace. A long- term solution was needed and on November 27, Mkhulu Nsingiza attended a meeting with the Department of Forestry team and GEK was officially given permission to have their pilgrimage from the 21 to 23 September annually without interference.

As Spiritual people who phahla and request Spirit to intervene, we are happy to announce that this Good News came as we entered the season of Djehuty, the principle of communication and the mouthpiece of Ramasedi, uMvelinqangi, Qamata. This is a typical example of HEKA, the response that the Cosmos gives when we collectively cry out. This is what Black Unity can achieve.
We would like to thank the Courageous GEK members who stood their ground, our social media global community who registered their distaste at what was happening to us in our own land. To all the well- wishers who showed up, just to support us, ready to fight with us because they saw the gross injustice that was about to take place. To our Afrikan- Amerikan brothers and sisters who were ready to protest at the South African consulates across the USA, thank you.
Moving forward ALL groups and individuals seeking to attend the pilgrimage will do so through GEK in order to ensure that we maintain UNITY and so that we are not sabotaged by imidlwembe, people who are ill intentioned and who do not have the interest of bakwaNtu at heart.
Thank you all.
Preparations for the Izibu/Lotus ceremony continue in earnest. This will be held from the 22-23 of December at the Tropic of Capricorn in Polokwane. This is the second cardinal point on the Afrikan Calendar which marks the summer solstice. We invite you to join us as we give thanks for continued UNITY and positive response from Spirit for the liberation of iNzaloyelanga as a sacred site where bakwaNtu were birthed.
